Immortal 2008
POW produced another great event called Immortal live from Brixham Community College Sports Centre on June 22nd. Immortal held the first ever King Of The Ring tournament with the winner to be crowned king of the ring and get the opportunity to fight the POW Champion at the next event. The entrees would battle it out in knockout stages leaving the finals as the second main event of the show.
Matches: King Of The Ring Semi Final A "Marvelous" Mark Walsh VS Lee O' Brian
As the loud crowd of Immortal cheered for Lee, Marvelous would start to apply
some basic wrestling holds in hope to embarrass Lee O Brian and instead found
himself on the receiving end and growing more frustrated with his opponent.
Knowing that who ever won this match would later compete in the finals that very
same day, the determination sank in and the two exploded with fast paced
wrestling. Marvelous took early control using his martial art background and
delivering some ferocious kicks to the chest that echoed the arena. Marvelous was also very smart knowing full well that Lee excelled using Ariel moves and cut him off several times when Lee looked to climb the ropes. The two would battle on the outside of the ring before bringing it back inside the ring and allowing Lee O Brian to gain the upper hand. Marvelous had also delivered a devastating kick earlier that not only hurt Lee, but shattered his belt and with that Lee found his tights falling down and would constantly pull them up. As funny as that sounds, it gave Marvelous the advantage as Lee was to concerned with his attire.

King Of The Ring Semi Final B Dan "The PrettyBoy" Walsh VS Becky Summers
As expected The PrettyBoy didn't go easy and showed his usual display of cockiness by throwing Becky down and feeding off the horrified looks of the crowd. The PrettyBoy told the crowd that men were the dominant species and with that Becky blasted out some thunderous kicks to the abdomen of the PrettyBoy and hitting several near falls.
The PrettyBoy rolled out of the ring in disbelief that he nearly lost the match
and then saw his face turn evil and attacked Becky with some vicious shots that
shocked the crowd. Dan The PrettyBoy Walsh is known as a hard hitting wrestler
and his thunderous forearm shots to the neck of Becky could be mistaken for gun
shots. Becky however did not give up and the crowd started to take to the female
wrestler and erupted with cheers as Becky came back smacking PrettyBoy with hard
punches. Becky who is normally booed by fans because being manager of Pretty
Marvelous found that the crowd behind her enhanced her wrestling and momentum. Becky Summers hit several moves that almost made her a step closer to becoming queen of the ring but it was PrettyBoys Fisherman Suplex that got the three count and advanced to the finals to meet the Cybernet champion for the chance to become king of the ring. POW Tag Team Championships Dexstar & Ultimo Scorpio (Sir Charles Watkins) (C) VS OOB
Both teams had all to play and it seemed that Sir Charles Watkins wasn't going to have any part wrestling and made Dexstar fight the two convicts who decimated him at every turn. Dexstar known for his courageous heart did come back several times but being in what looked a handicap match against two large men was proving a hard task for him.

Number One Contender For Cybernet Championship David Fury VS VV Reyas
Both men have recently been fighting over dominance to prove to the POW
management who should be the rightful contender for the Cybernet t
Reyas known as sensational rookie had shown everyone in the locker room that he
is something special and although he doesn't hold a huge winning steak, many
have said that they didn't have an easy win.
Both wrestlers kicked off the second half of the event and the crowd watched the
hard hitting David Fury attacked VV Reyas so hard that the rookie

King Of The Ring Finals Lee O Brian VS Dan "The PrettyBoy" Walsh
With all to play for and both wrestlers already competed in a match each had to have had little energy left to fight each other. The match started they way PrettyBoy loves which was mat wrestling. The PrettyBoy sort to have the advantage but was challenged several times by Lee O Brian who also knew his fair share of wrestling holds. However with PrettyBoys veteran knowledge he would be there at every turn gaining the upper hand. Lee O Brian could sense that this style of wrestling would not help him and quickly turned up the pace of the match by hitting fast moves and using his speed started to wear down the PrettyBoy who wasn't as fit as Lee O Brian who is considered a top athlete.
Towards the end of the match both wrestlers were tired and fatigue had definitely settled in. We were then treated to some spectacular moves from both wrestlers as they tried to finish each other off. Both men wouldn't stay down and the frustration built up. The crowd couldn't believe that the two couldn't hit a move strong enough to gain a three count. it was at the end that PrettyBoy snapped and stomped violently on Lee O Brian's spine several times before hitting an astonishing move which was a suplex to Powerbomb and pinned Lee to become the King Of The Ring. After his victory Dan Walsh announced many things, one that was most important, his name would be known as King Walshington I. Winner - King Walshington I
POW Championship Robbie Devonshire (C) VS GazzNorks
Robbie knew that he would be fighting King Walshington I next week if he could retain his title but had to focus on GazzNorks who was ready to fight and was extremely powerful. The two went at it and tested each other out with GazzNorks gaining the upper hand and out wrestling Robbie. They would lock up again except this time Robbie out wrestled GazzNorks and the two realised that they were not push over. GazzNorks was very hot coming back and quickly went to work on the champion using various technical holds and showing that he hadn't lost his moves. Robbie however was a fighting champion and came back with hard hitting blows. Both wrestlers received chants from the crowd as they couldn't decide on who they wanted to win the match.
The end of the match would see many counters to the finishers that they
possessed however it was Robbie who hit the final blow and retained his
championship. Both men shook hands and enjoyed the match along with the crowd
who made the loudest roar of the day. Robbie carried on celebrating while King
Walshington ran into the ring picked up the POW title and hit Robbie in the face
with it. Walshington stood above Robbie and told the crowd he would win the

Immortal
saw the first king of the ring semi finals kick off against two of POW's light
heavyweight stars. Both men have a huge rivalry that has been going on for
several months now and the hatred between the two was definitely shown
throughout this match. Marvelous had won a ladder match a week before this event
and was still suffering the effects of a gruelling match while the Cybernet
Champion Lee O Brian was able to take a two week break and looked to have the
upper hand going into this bout.
Towards
the end of the match it looked as if Marvelous was going to go through to the
finals as he went for his Northern Lights Suplex but found Lee O Brian jump over
and roll up Marvelous for the three count securing himself in the final.
Marvelous was so angry that he couldn't believe that he slipped up. David Fury
then ran to the ring and attacked Lee O Brian sending a message that he would
fight him for the Cybernet title (although he was in a number one contenders
match later on in the event). Fury beat down on Lee and Marvelous who believed
to have had a great match decided that it went on for to long and told Fury to
leave him alone. The enraged Fury pushed him to the floor and continued the
onslaught. Marvelous angry went back for Fury and once again was pushed, this
time Marvelous snapped and attacked Fury. Then something no one every thought
they would see was Lee & Marvelous working together and attacking Fury sending
him to the back. The two stared at each other and made the way separately
backstage with Lee going to the final.
The
second semi final saw a different style of match with a six foot four man
against a five foot six female. The stipulations looked unfair and by the crowds
reactions were not happy with the fairness of the match. Becky who is no
stranger to fighting male opponents found herself fighting her mentor Dan The
PrettyBoy Walsh. The PrettyBoy who had been obsessed for weeks on winning this
KOTR looked in better shape and laughed at Becky when he found out that was his
opponent.
The
strangest tag team champions would encounter a stranger story when Dexstar found
out that Sir Charles Watkins was really Ultimo Scorpio under the mask. Thrilled
that this was the case, Dexstar couldn't wait to defend the titles after having
a bad team partner as champion. Unfortunly for Dexstar the identify of Scorpio
was false as Sir Charles Watkins attacked a naked Ultimo Scorpio in the showers
and stole his clothes and pretended to be the masked wrestler in hope to screw
Dexstar and finally rid himself from him. The other side of the story saw the
recently convicted wrestlers only a trial basis that if they did not win the
match and win the tag team titles, they would be sent down to finish the rest of
there sentence in prison.
Towards
the end of the match Dexstar had a lot of momentum taking both Johnny Sicko &
Scott Johns out and bringing in ultimo Scorpio to perform a double WORM. This
would see the end of the tag team partnership as Ultimo Scorpio his a huge
clothesline to Dexstar and took his mask off revealing to the crowd that it was
Sir Charles Watkins all along. Watkins ordered OOB to finish the job and they
did that hitting a double team move where Scott Johns would land 280 pounds of
his weight directly onto Dexstars body with Sicko holding him captive. OOB
pinned Dexstar and became new tag team champions and would be eligible to
compete in POW again.

and it would be determined at Immortal. Reyas & Fury were the two competitors
who didn't win the title at Collision when Lee O Brian was victorious and ever
since that event they have battled each other holding victories over each other.
David Fury also hasn't been on a good winning streak and just cant seem to get
Lee O Brian.

to nearly be knocked out. Fury was more concerned about the crowd as he
regularly verbally attacked them and turned his back to Reyas several times in
the match and paid for it with Reyas hitting some great combos. Both men gave it
there all slamming each other on the outside and hitting violent blows to all
sections of the body and just when it looked over for Fury as VV Reyas went for
his finishing move the V-Locity (Dominator), Fury reversed it and hit a sitout
Spinebuster winning the match and getting the chance to fight Lee O Brian for
the Cybernet title.
The
king of the ring finals were finally going to kick off and knowing that it would
not be a Pretty Marvelous final and instead would see the current Cybernet
champion Lee O Brian take on the hard hitter of Pretty Marvelous, Dan The
PrettyBoy Walsh. Both men had different styles with Lee O Brian being extremely
fast and executing high risk Ariel moves while The PrettyBoy more of a ground
mat wrestler and technician with the hard hitting style that had won him a tag
team championship in the past. Both men had also had a huge history of rivalry
and have had many wins and losses between them. This time the stakes were higher
with the winner not only to be crowned king of the ring which is a status known
to be the best wrestler of the year, but to also receive a title shot at the POW
Champion at No Turning Back a week away.
Lee
O Brian then turned it up a notch and took the battle outside and hit a huge
running dropkick which sent the PrettyBoy flying. The crowd loved Lee and saw
that his momentum was getting him closer to victory. Lee would see that momentum
stop when the PrettyBoy connected a backbreaker combo before locking in a camel
clutch and then a Boston crab working on the back of Lee. It was clear that
PrettyBoy had a game plan and knew that if he could wear down Lee's back, it
would soften up the blow for a more devastating finishing move. The PrettyBoy
went a little to far and went for his signature elbow from the top rope and for
the first time missed and both men stayed down for the referee to start a count.
The
final match of Immortal would see the POW Champion Robbie Devonshire take on a
mystery opponent that Sir Charles Watkins would reveal in the last match.
Watkins came out and told Robbie that the man he would bring out deserved a
title shot and it was none other than the returning GazzNorks who had been out
of injury and missed his opportunity at Collision. Robbie amazed that GazzNorks
had returned and the sportsmen that he was shook his hand and welcomed him back
to POW.
Respect
was also seen throughout the match as it was very clean and both men wanted a
fair fight and to either win the title honourably or retain it with dignity.
