POW was
back at The annual Brixham Hapnin and this year was bigger and better
than last years explosive wrestling show. Last year Brixham was unleashed
to POW and the Hapnin received a great response from the fans of wrestling. The
Hapnin committee asked POW back and management just couldn't say no. Brixham
Hapnin helped put POW on the map and POW will always continue to help them by
placing a wrestling show.
Matches:
Tag Team Championships
OOB (Scott Johns & Johnny Sicko) VS Chris Marvel & Lee O'
Brian (C)
Brixham
Hap'nin 2008 was ready to hold POW's first year anniversary on live events. The
crowd was larger than last years event and having had a taste from last year saw
some familiar faces and a lot of new ones. Since the last year many of the
wrestlers had developed and changed ways but one thing was for sure, POW was
going to rock the Brixham Hapnin.
The
first match would see the street thug criminals Out On Bail who did not receive
a good reception from the crowd. As the crowd continued to boo the orange
wearing boiler suit convicts they would treated to a tag team who would receive
a huge cheer, it was of course the tag team champions Chris Marvel & Lee O'
Brian who got the crowd going and enjoyed there entrance to the ring. Before the
match senior official referee Lloyd Parker searched each wrestler and found a
screwdriver on Scott Johns and a pair of scissors on Johnny Sicko. The referee
confiscated the items that could have been used to great harm.
As
the match started Marvel & O' Brian got a great start hitting similar moves and
even hitting cross bodies to the outside taking out both members of OOB. As
Marvel rolled Sicko into the ring, Scott Johns & Lee O' Brian battled outside.
Scott Johns threw Lee O' Brian into the ring post with such velocity that it cut
Lee O' Brian's head wide open and blood started to pour by the gallons.
Concerned officials took Lee O Brian out of the match and to medical care while
Marvel took on both members of OOB alone.
Chris Marvel struggled without a tag team partner as OOB tagged in and out using
there tag team moves against a man who had no tag team partner. The Brixham
Hap'nin crowd were not going to give up on Chris Marvel and continued to cheer
him on even if the odds were stacked against him. Marvel knew that the tag team
championships were on the line and just when Sicko looked to finish Chris Marvel
with a superplex, Marvel pushed him off and connected a missile dropkick
knocking Sicko down and giving Marvel a breather that he needed.
As
the crowd got behind Marvel they would roar as loud as they could when Lee O'
Brian bandaged up sprinted towards the ring and offered his hand to Marvel to
accept the tag that he so desperately needed. The crowd were on fire and wanted
Lee O Brian. They would not be denied as Marvel got the tag and O' Brian
exploded with fast paced high risk moves. Lee O' Brian was unstoppable and took
on both Scott Johns & Johnny Sicko. Towards the end of the match Sicko was
thrown outside while Chris Marvel hit his signature Swanton Bomb followed by Lee
O Brian's signature 450 splash to get the pin and retain the tag team titles at
Brixham Hap'nin 2008.
Winners: Chris Marvel & Lee O' Brian
Cybernet Championship
GazzNorks VS David Fury (C)
Brixham
Hap'nin fans were in for a treat in this second match lined up just after the
hot tag team match. Both men were renown for the hard hitting aggressive
wrestling and this match was no different. Both men had an incredible rivalry
and now they would be fighting with the Cybernet Championship on the line.
The
crowd were intimidated of GazzNorks super-natural physique and were more
intimidated by the psychotic chizzled gladiator David Fury who shouted at nearly
every crowd member. The match started off with both wrestlers trying out each
other and matching one another at every turn. Fury & GazzNorks were former tag
team partners so it was no surprise that they knew each other well. Fury &
GazzNorks also collided at POW Retribution where GazzNorks was victories, but as
of late GazzNorks returned from injury and during that time Fury has risen about
GazzNorks capturing the Cybernet Championship one week prior to Brixham Hap'nin.
It
was apparent that neither man wanted to lose as they collided in a series of
shoulder blocks wearing each other down. GazzNorks was able to hit several
technical moves that would ground Fury for a few seconds, however the Cybernet
champion used his brute force to bring GazzNorks down and the two started to hit
a series of forearms to the neck. Both men wanted to see how much they could
take and after about ten stiff shots to the neck each, both men were still
standing and ready to carry on fighting.
That match had many highlights when GazzNorks hit a devastating
Powerbomb only seconds later for Fury to flip up an hit a twisting Spinebuster
and not obtain the three count that everyone thought it was. The two exchanged
finishing moves and hit there own signature moves however nothing was working.
The match drew close to the time limit set and it was when GazzNorks went for a
Powerbomb but got reversed by Fury into his sitout Spinebuster to get the three
count and retain the Cybernet Championship.
Winner - David Fury
POW Championship
Robbie Devonshire VS King Walshington I (C) with Sir Charles
Watkins
The
second part of the show drew more crowd in than the first as fans of the Brixham
Hap'nin anticipated the main event of POW. Local home town hero Robbie
Devonshire recently lost the POW Championship to the King and was not only upset
on how he lost the title but he also wanted to walk into Brixham the champion.
Fans gave a standing elevation when Robbie emerged from the curtains and Robbie
could feel the electricity of the crowds emotions. Robbie would make the longest
entrance in POW history simply because he couldn't stop the fans cheering and
chanting his name.
The
crowd would stop there cheers after they heard the trumpet sounds of King
Walshingtons entrance theme. As the King emerged with the POW Championship as
his manager Sir Charles Watkins, the King was almost booed out of the park as
the crowd displacement was extremely strong. The King asked for a microphone to
be presented to him and like last year The King attacked the Brixham Hap'nin
fans verbally only to receive larger boos from the crowd if possible. The King
would then direct his attention to Palm FM slating that they were a terrible
company which was unpleasant to hear especially since Palm FM helped promote
Brixham Hap'nin and have helped POW out many times with local events. If
anything the King was out there to make as many enemies as possible and probably
succeeded in doing so.
Robbie
decided to pay the King back with his disrespective tongue and got the crowd to
chant "burger king". This was something the King was not happy with and angered
him. The King and Robbie squared up and exchanged technical moves getting one up
each time. It would be Robbie who hit the final move showing the crowd that he
could outwrestle the POW Champion. Both men would lock up once more and go for a
set of different pinning moves however once more Robbie would get the final pin
once more and just when Robbie was to celebrate, the King slapped Robbie which
shocked the crowd. In frustration the King would verbally excuse Robbie of
cheating and with that Robbie's expression would change as he hit the King
several times before tiring him to the outside. In this time Robbie would chase
the King and even hit a body slam to the outside once again letting the crowd
cheer for the move.
The match would take a turn once the King hit a huge sitout
Spinebuster and would then go to work on Robbie connected vile kicks to the head
and landing elbows to his back. The King would start to chant the crowd stating
that Robbie Devonshire was nothing. The crowd started to chant burger king once
more which started to annoy the King. Ten minutes into the match Robbie had
tried to come back however the King knew his game plan and would stop him at
every turn. Robbie would get into more trouble when the King hit a top rope
elbow drop that injured Robbie's shoulder and chest area. Robbie would connect a
superplex buying him time to rest and use what energy he had left for the final
assault.
Robbie
and The King would battle it out hitting there signature moves and when the King
hit the KOR the entire crowd thought it was over. But somehow and someway Robbie
kicked out and would drop the Cybernet elbow to get the three count and win the
POW Championship with the crowd erupting in excitement.
